I have a love for the artistic side of it and the aggression and variances of control for the sound. It’s very incredibly rare that I talk about a band and promote a band’s sound online and to a mass of people but I need to talk about this band because if I don’t I feel as if I am being incredibly selfish. Haste The Day’s new album Pressure The Hinges is by far one of the best good buys of music I have purchased in many months. Recently with the break off of their original singer Jimmy Ryan, most bands don’t survive past that. But when they introduced the more melodically sound singer Stephen Keech into the mix it has been nothing but smooth sailing. I admit, When I first heard of Haste The Day it was because of Jimmy’s yelling and his breakdowns of voice within the song. But as a band, progression and time shows that you can only produce more of the same for so long until it gets boring and bland. When they introduced Stephen I felt that they were already well ahead on their way to new heights and maturity. Now I know Burning Bridges and When Everything Falls were both so called hit albums for the band and were pretty much one in the same for sound and breakdowns. Pressure the Hinges seems more complete, multiple tracks on the album have Stephan singing as well as screaming, with more intricate lyrics and more well placed guitar solo’s and musical breakdowns. I can’t even compare singing styles to Jeremy to Stephen, but I can say that after listening to all the albums multiple times Jeremy still has the more aggressive yell and Stephen’s sounds like everyone else and more of the same type of throaty yelling. But on those basis alone the musical progression of the supporting members has become more alive and seem to play around the words and the music/lyrics come together so well and adapt to what they are coming across with. I guess what I am trying to say is that if your a fan of Christian Metal, or any type of metal give this album a shot. I don’t think you will be very disappointed.
