Stanley J. Masney, 89, of Saint Louis, Mo., and formerly of Brownsville, Pa., passed away on Friday, May 4, 2007,… Stanley J. Masney, 89, of Saint Louis, Mo., and formerly of Brownsville, Pa., passed away on Friday, May 4, 2007, in The Missouri Veterans Home in Saint Louis.
He was born on January 27, 1918, in Edenborn, Pa., son of the late Joseph and Mary Bochnak Masney.
He was a member of Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Manchester, Mo., and was a former member of the former Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Brownsville, Pa., Veteran of World War II, he was retired from United States Steel Maplecreek Mine and he was a member of the UMWA, and a former Hiller Volunteer Fireman.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Masney, brothers, Andrew, Joseph, George, John and Frank Masney, and sister, Frances Montcavish.
He is survived by his only daughter, Evelyn and her husband, Richard Herman of Saint Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren: David Herman and his wife, Ann of Saint Charles, Mo., Lisa Schroeder of Saint Louis, Mo., Jason Herman and his wife, Amanda of Palm Harbor, Fla. and Kelly Joseph and her husband, Michael of O’Fallon, Mo.; five great-grandchildren: Ryan and Kasey Schroeder, Christopher, Michael, and Luke Herman; one sister, Anna Pellan of Cleveland, Ohio; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa., on Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m., and on Friday where a prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in The Historic Church of Saint Peter, Brownsville, Pa. with the Rev. Father Vincent Gigliotti as Celebrant.
Entombment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Posts 295, 275, 838 and 940.
Parish Rosary will be recited on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Mr. Masney’s name to The Missouri Veterans Home, 10600 Lewis and Clark Blvd. Street, St. Louis, Mo., 63136.
