Corridor meetings set
The U.S. Department of Energy announced Wednesday that it will hold meetings in June in Pittsburgh and three other cities to gather public comment on two draft National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors. The meetings to be held in Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Ariz., Las Vegas, Nev., and Rochester, N.Y., will be held in addition to the three meeting the department already has scheduled during the 60-day public comment period, which ends July 6.
Specific dates and locations of the four additional meetings have not yet been announced.
The three previously scheduled meetings will be May 15 in Arlington, Va., May 17 in San Diego, Calif., and May 23 in New York City.
The proposed NIETCs cover geographic regions where millions of consumers are adversely affected by electrical transmission capacity constraints or congestion, according to the department.
The draft Mid-Atlantic Area NIETC includes parts of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Virginia, New York and Maryland, and all of New Jersey, Delaware and the District of Columbia.
The draft Southwest Area NIETC includes parts of California, Arizona and Nevada.
Public comments about the corridors also can be made through the department’s website.
