Installation service set for new pastor

First Baptist Church of Lamberton will hold an installation service for its pastor, the Rev. Beverly Harris, on May 27 at 3 p.m. Born in Pittsburgh, Harris accepted Christ at an early age. Prior to receiving her call to the ministry, she retired from US Airways Inc. after more than 25 years of service.

On March 3, 1998, she publicly announced her call to ministry and shortly thereafter received her ministerial license under the leadership of Dr. William H. Curtis, pastor of her home church, Mount Ararat Baptist Church in East Liberty, Pittsburgh.

She was ordained on June 22, 2002 by Virginia Ford, pastor of Fire is Burning Full Gospel Fellowship Inc. in Washington, D.C. She has also been ordained by Wanda L. Sawyer, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rankin, Pa.

Harris has attended the University of Pittsburgh, Ebenezer Baptist Church School of Ministry in Pittsburgh, Greater Works School of Ministry in Monroeville and Geneva College in Pittsburgh.

On May 4, 2003, she was called to pastor Canaan Baptist Church of Hiller. On June 4, 2006, she was called to First Baptist Church in Lamberton.
