James D. (Deb) Whitlock, 82, of Chalk Hill, Pa., passed away May 9, 2007, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born… James D. (Deb) Whitlock, 82, of Chalk Hill, Pa., passed away May 9, 2007, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born January 9, 1025, in Menallen Township and was the son of the late James P. and Mertie (Coffman) Whitlock.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers: Frank, Bruce, and Presley; and sisters: Lucy and Edna.
James was a member of the Central Christian Church and Life Elder of Church. He served in the U.S. navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Wilkes-Barre and was present in Tokyo on September 2, 1945 during the signing by the Japanese of surrender terms of the Allied Nations. He was a member of the Menallen Grange #1091 as 67 years as Past Master. He retired from Wickes Lumber in 1982.
Surviving is his loving wife, Joan Whitlock, of 59 years, children: Randy and wife, Connie, Shirley and husband, Ken, and Debra and husband, Brett; brothers Ray, Dave, Lloyd and Paul; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held in the Central Christian Church on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Art Mace and Pastoral Association Patty Roddy officiating.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Central Christian Church, Uniontown, Pa., 15401.
AMVETS Post 103 will accord military rites after conclusion of the memorial service.
