Joan L. Ricks, 84, of Hopwood, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007, in the Uniontown Hospital.
She was born June… Joan L. Ricks, 84, of Hopwood, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007, in the Uniontown Hospital.
She was born June 22, 1922, in Connellsville, Pa., daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Snuk) Litavic.
On February 2, 1963, she married Robert H. Ricks who passed away February 7, 2006.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by two brothers, John and Michael Litavic and two sisters, Mary and Ann Litavic.
Surviving are a sister, Sophia Sandusky of Connellsville; a brother, Paul Litavic and wife, Genevieve of North Huntington; and several nieces and nephews.
Joan was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Church, Uniontown. She graduated from Connellsville High School with the Class of 1939 and attended Waynesburg College. She worked for Child Welfare and Social Security for many years. She also worked with her husband at Ricks Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club.
She and her husband authored a book titled “A Vintage History of a Vintage Family”.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME HOPWOOD, today from 9 to 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Michael Crookston as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to the Mount Citizens Action Group, Dinnerbell Road Farmington, Pa., 15437.
