A 41-year-old man accused of shooting another man in the face May 1 was arrested Wednesday. George A. Roberts of Coal Center was charged with attempted homicide and placed in Fayette County Prison after failing to post a $25,000 bond, state police said.

Police allege Roberts shot Edgar Martin Fazenbaker, 50, of Uniontown while Fazenbaker was sitting in a parked vehicle, which was pulled off along Davidson Siding Road in Redstone Township.

The shooting occurred around 1:55 a.m., police said.

According to police, Roberts allegedly approached the driver’s side of Fazenbaker’s vehicle and fired several shots from a rifle.

One of the bullets struck Fazenbaker in the face, police said.

After being shot, Fazenbaker drove himself to the Sheetz service station at the intersection of Route 40 and New Salem Road and called for help, police said.

A spokesman for Fayette County 911 said American Ambulance was dispatched to the service station and Fazenbaker was taken to the Uniontown Hospital helipad and flown by medical helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

Trooper James Petrosky said Roberts was taken into custody when police served a search warrant on his residence.

Additional arrests resulting from the search warrant are pending, police said.
