Pittsburgh woman survives Main Street crash
A Pittsburgh woman survived a wild ride Thursday evening after the vehicle she was driving collided with a pickup truck on Main Street in Uniontown. Uniontown Police Officer Thomas E. Kolencik said Anita Goralski was driving east on Main Street around 6:15 p.m. when her Subaru Forester collided with a Ford Ranger driven by Earl Whetsel of Uniontown on South Gallatin Avenue.
After the impact, Goralski’s vehicle traveled onto the sidewalk and crashed through a street light pole, two flower planters, a picket fence and came to rest against the side of 30 East Main restaurant.
Kolencik said Whetsel was not injured in the crash but noted that Goralski was going for tests at the Uniontown Hospital as a precaution.
The planters and fencing is owned by Commercial Center Associates, Kolencik said.
Goralski’s vehicle sustained damage to driver’s side, the front end and a shattered windshield. Whetsel’s vehicle sustained minor damage.
Emergency crews shut down Main Street for about 30 minutes as crews worked to clear away the debris from the fallen light as well as scoop up the dirt scattered on the road from the smashed planters.
In addition to Uniontown police, the Uniontown Fire Department, Uniontown Fireman’s Ambulance and Allegheny Power responded to the crash.
