Shuster receives committee assignment

1 min read

The House Republican Conference voted unanimously Thursday to return U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Holidaysburg, to the House Armed Services Committee. Shuster will return to the Armed Services Committee and resume his work at the same level of seniority he had when he went on leave from the committee last year. Shuster will resume his responsibilities immediately.

“Congress’ first responsibility is to provide for the defense of our nation against its enemies. America faces a great challenge in confronting the threat of militant Islamic fundamentalism,” he said.

“A key component in our fight against this dangerous enemy continues to be our military. I support their mission and I am committed to improving their welfare, their readiness and the way they are applied to secure our safety and our interests abroad.”
