Attempted robbery
State police said they are searching for a white man last seen wearing blue jeans and a red shirt with the number 5 on the back who attempted to rob the Sheetz convenience store on New Salem Road at 5 a.m. Friday. Police said the man passed a note demanding money and told the cashier that the demand “was not a joke.” After the cashier handed the note to a manager, the suspect fled the store. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 724-439-7111.

Man injured
State police said vehicles driven by Francis Phillips and Karen Owens, both of Waynesburg, collided on Rolling Meadows Road at 1:30 p.m. Monday. 0Phillips suffered minor injuries in the crash, police said.

Purse stolen
Saundra Luoma of Waynesburg told state police that her purse was stolen from a business parking lot in Waynesburg at 9:03 p.m. Thursday, police said. It was recovered a short time later, police said.

State police said a lawn tractor, tools and several other items owned by Lisa Eddy of Waynesburg were stolen from her home on Mount Morris Road between 6 p.m. April 25 and 9 p.m. Thursday.

Man charged
Charles W. Mason of Aleppo was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after he stole a pickup truck, three chainsaws and two guns owned by Ernest Jenkins of Adah at 4:30 p.m. May 3, state police said.

State police said Michael Alan Shaw, 43, of Washington was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop on Interstate 79 at 7:06 p.m. Friday.

Stanley Marchetti of Nineva told state police that a Carmichaels’ man slashed three tires on his vehicle while it was parked on Pleasant Grove Road at 2:15 a.m. Thursday, police said.

Jennifer Greene of Clarksville told state police that someone she knows stole $400 from her at a residence on Simpson Road at 4:30 p.m. Friday, police said.

State police said a 2005 Yamaha all-terrain-vehicle owned by David Connors of Everson was stolen from his home on Painter Street sometime Wednesday or Thursday.

Cars collide
Vehicles driven by Flint Clapper of Brownsville and David Campagna of Hiller collided on Route 88 at 12:44 p.m. Wednesday, state police said. Both men suffered injuries in the crash, police said.

Steve Gibbs of Uniontown was charged with violating a protection-from-abuse order after he was found with Donna VanSickle during a routine traffic stop at the intersection of Stewart Avenue and Main Street at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, state police said.

State police said a DVD player, a videocassette recorder, two video game systems and multiple DVDs and video games were stolen from a residence in Pershing Terrace between 10 p.m. Friday and 3 a.m. Saturday.
