Results from the recent livestock auctions and crop sales in the region were as follows: The Pennsylvania Livestock Market Report for Waynesburg for May 10 is as follows:

CATTLE:

STOCK COWS: 55 to 71.

SLAUGHTER COWS: Utility and commercial, 50 to 65; boner and boning utility, 45 to 51.50; cutter and boning utility, 44 to 52; canner and low cutter, 42 to 48; shells, 40 down.

BULLS: Yield grade 1, 1,500-2,000 pounds, 48 to 65.50; grade 2, 1,000-1,400 pounds, 50 to 67.50.

FEEDER STEERS: Medium and light, 1, 300-500 pounds, 85 to 122; 250-280 pounds, 90 to 132; 600-900 pounds, 70 to 112.

HEIFERS: Medium and light, 1, 300-500 pounds, 80-106; light 1, 400-650 pounds, 70 to 91.

BULLS: Medium and light, 1, 300-620 pounds, 70 to 106.

CALVES: Veal…prime, 70-100; choice, 60-84; good, 40-84.

FARM CALVES: No. 1 Holstein bulls, 90-120 pounds, few, 65-155; No. 2, 80-100 pounds, few, 50-85. Beef – Bulls and heifers/head, 35-153.

HOGS: Barrows and gilts, 1-2, 210-255 pounds, 37 to 56; 2-3, 255-280 pounds, 34-57. Sows, 1-3 300-500 pounds, 24-50.

FEEDER PIGS: 1-3, 15-20 pounds, 12 to 28/head; 1-3, 25-35 pounds, 15 to 46/head.

LAMBS: High choice, 80-100 pounds, 45 to 122; choice, 40-75 pounds, 75-160. Feeder lambs, good, 69-110; sheep, 22-41; fat sheep, 19.50-25.

GOATS: Large, 65 to 95/head; medium, 50 to 115/head; small, 8 to 41/head.

HORSES: Horses, 20 to 53; ponies, 20 to 42.

Eighty Four Livestock Auction held in Eighty Four on May 7, results were:

CATTLE: 284 (PDA) Compared with last week’s sale; slaughter cows were steady to firm; bulls were steady.

STEERS: select 1-2 couple 67.50 – 72.

HOLSTEIN STEERS: Standard 1-2 couple 55.50-59.

HEIFERS: select 1-2 one 76.

COWS: Breakers, 75-80 percent lean, 55-63. Boners, 80-85 percent lean, 49-54. Lean, 85-90 percent lean, 42.50-47. Shells 42 and down.

BULLS: Yield grade 1, 935-1,940 pounds, 58-66. Yield grade 2, 91,640 pounds, 54-59.

FEEDER CATTLE:

STEERS: Medium and large 2 335-492 pounds 102-113; 500-670 pounds 77-95.

HEIFERS: Medium 1 280-355 pounds, 1024-115;

Medium and large 2 235-493 pounds 80-101; 500-597 pounds 71-97. Stock heifers 805-1025 pounds 53-80

BULLS: Medium 1, 330-480 pounds 101-115; 500-660 pounds 86-105. Couple large 1 495 and 640 pounds 87-98. Medium and large 2 362-480 pounds 78-105; 500-705 pounds 78-98.

CALVES 96…(calves sold per hundredweight) Holstein bulls were 5 low35-40 higher.

VEALERS: Standard and good, 80-115 pounds, 85-110; utility, 45-1050-110 pounds, 10-65.

FARM CALVES: No. 1 Holstein bulls, 95-125 pounds, 165-190. No. 2, 80-130 pounds, 120-165; No. 1 Holstein heifers, 60-110 pounds 100-280. Beef cross bulls and heifers, 75-155 pounds, 130-225.

HOGS: 11

BARROWS AND GILTS: 40-45 percent lean, 250-340 pounds, 24-25, 40-45 percent lean 190-210 pounds 24-26. Boars: one 8.

FEEDER PIGS: 2… sold by the head, US 2 98 pounds 30.

SHEEP: 71

SLAUGHTER LAMBS: Choice 54-71 pounds 112-124; 86-95 pounds 113-120; few105-115 pounds 105-117.50, Good and Choice 68-90 pounds 97.50-101.

SLAUGHTER SHEEP: 20-50, one to 72.50.

GOATS: 38…(sold by the head).

KIDS: Selection 1 40 pounds, 64. Selection 2 couple 18 pounds 22.50; 33-35 pounds 30-32. Selection 3 one 35 pounds 17.50..

YEARLINGS: Selection 1 50-60 pounds 67.50-84. Selection 2 50-70 pounds 42.50-70.

The Market News Service Grain Market Summary for Western Pennsylvania for May 7, follows:

Corn number 2, 3.60-3.80 (few at 3.41), average 3.66, wheat number 2, 3.85 to 3.95, average 3.88; barley number 3, 1.75, average 1.75; oats number 2, 2 to 2.25, average 2.15; soybeans number 2, 6.78 to 6.85, average 6.81; and ear corn, 108 to 110, average 109.

The Hay Market Summary for May 5, for Central Pennsylvania follows:

Alfalfa, 100 to 210; mixed hay, 100 to 205; timothy, 90 to 180; straw, 100 to 135; and ear corn, 105 to 125.
