East Beth Township In the race for East Bethlehem Township commissioner an incumbent took the nomination for commissioner at large in the primary election.
Democrats Thomas Pelkey received 103 votes, William M. Angelo received 196 votes while Paul Battaglini received 260 votes for his re-election bid.
In the other three regions, Democrat Tim J. Sepsi received 126 votes, Democrat Peter J. Hayges received 85 votes while incumbent Democrat Mike Packrall received 88 votes.
Commissioner Mark Giovanelli did not run for re-election.
Beth-Center
Current school board members at Bethlehem-Center School District dominated the votes during Tuesday’s election.
In Region 1, incumbents Joan Lee Caputo, receiving 328 votes, and Gary F. Ewing, receiving 254 votes, took the two available seats. While Frank Mazeppa, running unopposed, took the seat for the second region. Finally in Region 3, President Sandra L. Yohe received 278 votes, edging out Councilman Donald C. Bartolomucci, who received 228 votes, which was not enough to beat Karen Sabolsky-Drill, who received 272 votes.
Except for Democrat Derrek A. White, the candidates all cross-filed.
Pelkey wins
The unofficial tally for district judge in the primary election should make for a close race in the fall.
Magisterial District Judge William Pelkey received 1,174 votes, while Joshua Kanalis received 1,173 votes for the Democratic Party’s nomination. The Republican Party nomination was not as close with Kanalis receiving 275 votes, while Pelkey received 175 votes.
For three terms Pelkey has held office.
