Robert S. “Brownie” Brown Jr., age 86, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Tuesday evening, May 15, 2007, at home with… Robert S. “Brownie” Brown Jr., age 86, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Tuesday evening, May 15, 2007, at home with his loving family at his side.

He was born April 18, 1921, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of Robert S. Brown and Mary Hugus Brown.

“Bob” graduated from the Uniontown Area High School in 1939 where he excelled in Football, Basketball and Track and Field.

He continued his education at Xavier University where he played both Basketball and Football and graduated in the Class of 1943.

He was a veteran of the United States Army who served in the OSS in the China-Burma-India Theatre of War during World War II. He retired with the rank of Major.

Following retirement from active duty, Major Brown was Commander of the 429th Engineer Battalion.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 51, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 and The Elks Lodge 370, all in Uniontown.

He was also a member of Saint John The Evangleist Roman Catholic Church.

“Bob” was employed with the Nationwide Insurance Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Gladys King, Gene Bruns and Betty Dearth.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia L. Lally Brown; two loving sons: Robert S. Brown III and his wife, Colleen, of Bethel Park, Pa., and Terence P. Brown and his wife, Lisa, of Butler, Pa.; eight grandchildren: Andrea Brown, Leann Brown, Beatrice Brown, Samuel Brown, Paris Brown, Delaney Brown, Guinness Brown and Grayden Brown; also many nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., this evening (May 17, 2007) from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2007, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday morning, May 19, 2007, until 9 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 9:30 a.m. in Saint John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Jefferson Street, with the Rev. Father Michael J. Crookston as the Celebrant.

Interment follows in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, where Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47.

Elks Lodge 370 will conduct Services in the Funeral Home on Friday evening, May 18, 2007, at 8 p.m.
