The Education Council of the Fayette Chamber of Commerce has honored Jacob R. Sethman of Smock, a junior at Fayette County Area Vocational-Technical School, as a student of the month for March. The son of Randy and Nadine Sethman, he is undecided about which post secondary school he hopes to attend, but plans to study culinary arts with the career goal of entering the food and restaurant business. He has volunteered for the Smock Historical Society and Museum, helps with the Adopt a Highway Program, volunteers at the non-profit Culinary Affairs Taste of the Laurel Highlands and volunteers for the Colon Cancer Awareness Dinner and Learning for Life Days. Sethman is a music student of Joe Materkowski.

He is involved in extracurricular activities, including the Red Raider Marching Band and is a three-year member of Skills USA.
