Miller secures Democratic nod in Washington Twp.
WASHINGTON TWP. – Jamie Miller won the Democratic nomination for Washington Township supervisor, beating her only opponent, David Atkinson, with 485 votes to his 351, according to unofficial results. Since Supervisor John Yetsconish did not seek re-election, Miller will likely be the person to take his place, although according to Supervisor Chuck Yusko, another local resident plans to run as an independent candidate in November.
Yusko said that he believes the township is looking for “good government.”
“That’s the bottom line now,” said Yusko, adding that the township needs a lot of changes.
Miller agreed that townships residents are looking for change, and that is why she believes that they supported her in the primary election.
“They want honesty and good government,” said Miller. “They want to put someone in that they feel they can trust.”
She added that she was “humbled by the support” she received from the community, but she felt very excited and happy about the results of the election.
She said “the whole day went very well,” and while she was confident in herself, she was uncertain of what the final results would be. Miller said the township needs some reform, and she promised to provide a turnaround during her service as supervisor.
