Fun Fest plans announced
CONNELLSVILLE TWP. – The Connellsville Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Geibel Catholic football boosters’ organization will host a variety of activities during its Fun Fest ’07 to thank community residents for their continued support. A car show, games and live entertainment will be part of the two-day festival that will be held June 22 and 23 at the Geibel sports complex, according to event planners.
“(Fun Fest) is a way to say thank you to Connellsville Township and all the surrounding communities that have been so supportive of both the fire department and high school,” said Dwayne Krumanacker, member of the department and event chairman.
Fun Fest ’07 will kick off with a car show sponsored by Special Touch Auto Body and Customs of Connellsville at 4 p.m. with disc jockey CRS Music of Normalville providing musical entertainment.
At 8:30 p.m., the Connellsville group Punch will take the stage. The gates will open at 4 p.m. Saturday kicks off with a carnival that will include games, food and entertainment for all ages, said Krumanacker.
The Tim Scott Band will present a concert at 8:30 p.m.
The festivities will conclude with a fireworks display sponsored by the Connellsville Township Ladies Auxiliary.
“Be prepared to witness the biggest, most spectacular fireworks display in the Fay-West area,” said Krumanacker.
During the two-day event, the auxiliary will be selling baked goods and are asking area residents to donate a family favorite for the sale.
A member of the fire department or auxiliary will pick up the baked good or it can be delivered to the sports complex during the evening hours of the festival. To make arrangements to have the contribution picked up, call the station at 724-628-3490.
There will be no cost to attend the Punch and Tim Scott Band concerts.
“Fun Fest ’07 is a family-oriented, alcohol-free event that can be enjoyed by people of all ages,” said Krumanacker. “This is a great way to spend the weekend with your friends and family.”
The event is being sponsored by 84 Lumber Co.
Parking is free and shuttle service to the sports complex will be provided.
