Car, truck show
The 2007 Point Marion Volunteer Car and Truck Show, sponsored by Jordan Auto Parts will be held on June 23, rain or shine. Registration is from 4 to 6 p.m. Trophies will be awarded at 9 p.m. Donation is $10 per vehicle. First 100 vehicles will get dash plaques, goodie bags and folding chairs. Oldies music, sponsored by American Legion Post 499, will be provided by DJ Arnie Amber. A 50/50, door prizes, large indoor Chinese auction, great food with indoor seating and air conditioning are available. For more information, call James Belan, car show director, at 724-725-3200.
Registration open
The Mount Moriah Christian School is accepting enrollment for preschool classes for the 2007-2008 school year. Classes are available for 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds. Call Mina Brown at 724-569-4890 for more information or to register.
Trip completed
On May 7, the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students who were named to the honor roll for the first three nine weeks at the Albert Gallatin South Middle School attended the Carnegie Science Center Sport Works and the Omnimax Theater.
Parade planned
The annual Smithfield Memorial Day parade will be held on Monday, May 28. Line-up for the parade is at 1 p.m. on Liberty Street. Anyone wishing to participate in the parade is to contact Mayor Charles Cieszynski Jr. or call borough secretary Jamie Hoone at 724-569-9601. The parade begins at 2 p.m., with the Memorial Day parade immediately to follow at the Mount Moriah Cemetery.
Car show
The Haydentown Community Center will host its third annual car show and spaghetti dinner at the community center in Haydentown, off Route 857, on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m.
There is no charge for admission or entry fee, but donations will be accepted. All-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner is $6. The top 10 cars will win trophies. The first 50 cars to register will receive goodie bags and dash plaques.
