Belle Vernon board approves budget

BELLE VERNON – Board members for the Belle Vernon Area School District adopted a preliminary budget during their regular meeting Monday evening. With three yes votes, two no votes and one abstention, the board passed a 2007-2008 preliminary budget reflecting anticipated expenditures of $31,290,993 and anticipated revenues of $31,290,993 with the millage rates to support the preliminary budget as follows: North Belle Vernon and Rostraver at a 69.87 millage rate and Belle Vernon, Fayette City and Washington at a 16.51 millage rate.

The board approved a June 25 meeting to follow the 30-day public review period.

The board also conducted the following business:

Witnessed the swearing in of board member Dan Sepeski.

Announced approval for $12,263.15 to defray extraordinary costs incurred in providing special education.

Voted to authorize the collection and payment of school real property taxes with an installment plan.
