Allison man connected to fatal overdose gets probation for paraphernalia

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

An Allison man found not guilty of selling a Greene County man the drug that contributed to his death last year was sentenced Friday to six months probation before Fayette County President Judge Conrad Capuzzi for possession of drug paraphernalia. State police said Jeffrey Lynn Moore, 43, of 280 Third St. sold Geoffrey M. Dankovich, 27, of Greensboro eight fentanyl patches and a small amount of marijuana the day before he died, according to trooper James Pierce.

Moore was initially charged with delivery of drugs, conspiracy to deliver drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of prescription drugs with no labeling displayed.

However, a Fayette County jury found Moore not guilty on the charge of delivery of drugs and charges of conspiracy to deliver drugs and possession of prescription drugs without a label were dismissed.

Dankovich died in a Fayette County hotel room May 28. Coroner Dr. Phillip E. Reilly ruled the death a drug overdose from the combined effects of cocaine, opiates, fentanyl and benzodiazepines.

Fentanyl is a drug used by cancer patients to help combat pain.

Moore allegedly sold Dankovich eight fentanyl patches for $550. He also allegedly sold Dankovich a small amount of marijuana.

Pierce said Dankovich and his companion used three of the patches, and the five unused ones were found in the hotel room.

Each put one patch on their body, they split the third patch in half, and ingested it orally. Sucking the medicine off the patch produces a “quick high,” Pierce said

As part of their investigation into Dankovich’s death, police served a warrant at Moore’s home and reportedly found more than $2,000, the painkiller Oxycontin, weighing scales, plastic bags used to package drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Police said a pistol also was seized from the home.
