Drug task force conducts another raid

By Josh Krysak 2 min read

The Fayette County Drug Task Force uncovered more drugs, cash and weapons Thursday in the ninth drug bust in the county over the last two months. Under the direction of Lt. Kyle W. Sneddon, who heads the Fayette County Drug Task Force on the southern end of the county, officers raided a home at 33 Whiteman Ave. in Uniontown Thursday morning.

With the help of Connellsville Police Detective Ryan Reese, Officer Dan Sherbinsky and Uniontown Police Officer Michael Garrow and police dog Sheiko, the task force uncovered more than four ounces of marijuana valued at more than $500, 28 grams of cocaine valued at $2,800 and a plastic baggie of crack cocaine.

Additionally, officers discovered more than $1,000 in cash, two digital scales, a .357 revolver and six cellular phones.

Police said the drugs, money and phones were all discovered in a dresser drawer in a bedroom at the home and in a nearby closet.

Charges are pending against a Uniontown man following the raid, police said.

Sneddon and Fayette County District Attorney Nancy D. Vernon said the bust was the culmination of one of many drug investigations across the county and is just one part of the continued increase in the county’s crackdown on drug dealing in the region.

In the last seven weeks, the task force, in conjunction with local law enforcement and the state police, have netted more than $50,000 in cash, more than two kilograms of cocaine, five bags of crack cocaine, nearly 11/2 pounds of marijuana, dozens of marijuana seeds, liquid PCP, Oxycontin and other suspected drugs as well as 12 guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Of the nine drug seizures conducted during that span, eight were made in Uniontown.

Anyone can report drug activity by calling the task force at 724-425-1768.
