Lumba to speak at Dawson Baptist

2 min read

The Rev. Thomas Lumba, executive director of I.N. Network, Zambia, will speak at Dawson Baptist Church, Galley Street, on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Lumba, a native Zambian, has been serving the Lord for 40 years since being saved in the small church his father was pastoring. After working in banking and as a financial accountant in the copper mining industry, Lumba and his wife, Joyce, became involved in full-time ministry. Educated at Baptist Theological Seminary in Zambia, Lumba became the pastor of Bethel Baptist Church near Zambia’s capital city, Lusaka. Continuing his studies at the International Seminary in Zurich, Switzerland, he completed an advanced degree and returned to pastor in Zambia. Lumba was appointed executive director of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia and worked with evangelical churches and para-church organizations throughout the country. He also served as counselor to the former president of Zambia.

Having been introduced to the I.N. Network, Lumba became aware of its focus on evangelism through nationals, and his interest grew. He became a member of the I.N. Network Zambia Board of Directors and later became its chairman. In April 2001, Lumba stepped down from his position with Evangelical Fellowship to accept the appointment as executive director of I.N. Network Zambia.

The Lumbas head the FamCare ministry, based in Ndola, Zambia. FamCare is a ministry to married couples, pastors and their wives in many congregations throughout Zambia, teaching biblical principals of marriage as well as HIV/AIDS awareness.

A free-will offering will be received. A covered-dish dinner will be held at 6 p.m.
