Shirley Ann Palmer, 77, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2007.

She was born on… Shirley Ann Palmer, 77, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2007.

She was born on September 26, 1929, in Connellsville, Pa., daughter of Harry and Rachel E. Mitchell.

Her parents and sisters, Mrs. Floyed (Betty Jean) Hixon, Mrs. Margaret (Peggy) Barnes and Mrs. Thomas (Dorothy Louise “Jackie”) Bailey preceded her in death.

Upon graduating from

Slippery Rock College in 1951, she was employed with Benjamin Franklin Junior High School as a Physical Education and Health Instructor; later she was employed with Frazier High School and had been the Cheerleading Coach for both schools.

She was born into a family of talented musicians and her passion for music, especially Jazz, led to the fortune of playing a drum solo at Carnegie Hall while in college. She also loved convertibles.

She was a member of Saint Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Retired Teacher’s Association.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis Vukelich and her husband, Richard of Uniontown, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks are extended to Dr. Naresh Bhatt and everyone who assisted in her care throughout many years.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., on Saturday from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. and on Sunday until 2 p.m. the hour of Service with the Rev. Paul Frank officiating.

Private interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
