Rebecca Marie Ryan and James Daniel Sykes of Charlottesville, Va., were united in marriage on Dec. 30 at the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Uniontown. The Rev. Michael Orsted officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of William and Roberta Ryan of Balsinger Road, Uniontown. The bridegroom is the son of Dwayne and Sheryl Sykes of Las Cruces, N.M.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore an antique ivory lace gown with capped sleeves and satin trim. A beaded tiara held a beaded ivory cathedral-length veil.

Jackie Nicholson was matron of honor. Erin Meese was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Samantha Budinsky, Krisanne Wilson, Kelly Paraoda, Jessica Sykes, and Alicia Corominal. Alyssa Donesec was flower girl.

Best man was Tony Lechuga. Groomsmen were Bill Ryan, Jason Sykes Paul Paroda, Damon Sykes, Chris Mikolowsky and Dwayne Sykes. Junior groomsmen were Lucas Keppel and Kyrtis Sykes. Ring bearer was Chandler Sykes.

A reception was held at the Lakeside Party Center, McClellandtown. They went on a wedding trip to the Poconos.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Geibel Catholic High School and a 2002 graduate of Carlow College. She is a senior perfusionist at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

The bridegroom is a 1998 graduate of Onate High School and is a senior student at Piedmont of Virginia School of Nursing. He is employed as a patient care specialist at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

The couple is residing on Chatham Ridge Road in Charlottesville.
