Glenn S. Work, 87, a lifelong resident of Mill Run, Pa., went to be with the Lord at 8 a.m.,… Glenn S. Work, 87, a lifelong resident of Mill Run, Pa., went to be with the Lord at 8 a.m., Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Highlands Hospital, Connellsville.

He was born November 8, 1919, in Mill Run, a son of the late Grover C. and Marie Friend Work.

He attended Connellsville High School. he was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Force. Glenn was an excavation contractor and worked many years for the U. S. Department of Agriculture in Soil Conservation Service.

He was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church in Mill Run and was a member of the Men’s Bible Class and he served as a director for many years. HE was a charter member of the Springfield Township Volunteer Hose Company where he served as a former officer. Glenn was a member of the Indian Creek Valley Lions Club. In 1987, CAMRI (Citizens fir the Advancement for Mill Run Interest) presented him with the ESC (E. Sturgis Colborn) Memorial Award. For many years he was a member of the Mill Run Recreation Authority. He was founder of Mill Run Campground, along with his family, and they developed it into one of the nation’s premier Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sarah Etta Stickel Work; their two children, Glenda M. King and her husband Ronald R. of Elderton and Randall E. Work and Connie Coffman Work, of Mill Run; six grandchildren, Scott R. King and fiancee Donna of Kittanning, Cindy M. Denholm and her husband Gary J. of Frederick, Md., James G. “Jay” King and his wife Leilani of Amelia Island, Fla., Randall E. Work II of Mill Run, R. Michael Work and his wife Heather Clark Work of Champion and Daniel L. Work of Coraopolis; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Heather, Erica, and Olivia Work, Josh and Megan King and Brandee Leighty and numerous nieces and nephews. Glenn was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Graydon and Eugene Work and his two twin sisters, Rella Mae King and Della Mae Work and a granddaughter-in-law, May Beth Pitchford Work.

Glenn loved to travel and he visited many states and countries and he dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, today from 2 to 9 p.m. Services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Re. John Davis officiating.

Interment will follow in the Indian Creek Baptist Cemetery, Mill Run.
