Water main break floods road

1 min read

Water gushes across Upper Middletown Road in North Union Township after a water main ruptured Tuesday afternoon. About 300 residents in North Union Township lost water or water pressure after the water main broke around 3 p.m.

According to North Fayette Water Authority spokesman Bob Softcheck, when the 12-inch cast-iron line fractured, reports of decreased water pressure began to flood the authority. After repair crews located the break, they were immediately able to isolate the problem, restoring water service to 90 percent of affected homes Tuesday afternoon, Softcheck said. He said about 20 homes still were without water Tuesday evening but said repairs were expected to be complete by 9 p.m.
