She was the daughter of the late Frank and Sophie (Tylka) Ozug.
Joan was a member of the former Transfiguration of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Rosary Society and a member fo the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church Mount Pleasant. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and 1950 Graduate of Hurst High School .
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Bob “Lefty” Soforic and her wonderful daughters: Debby Soforic and Barry, Diane Wawrzyniak and husband, Dave, Dana Marucci and husband, Rick and her pride and joy, her four grandchildren: Shane and Amanda Wawrzyniak and Megan and Ricky Marucci. Also survived by Jim and Helen Burkholder and their family, Sophie, Anna and Rachael: Jim and Kim Skrabski and Kellie Ozug and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Burkholder and Phyllis Hyatt and one brother, Tom “Ozzie” Ozug. She was the last member of her family.
Family and friends will be received at the EUGENE G. SALOOM FUNERAL SERVICE INC., 730 West Main Street, Mount Pleasant, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Blessing Service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church with the Rev. Msgr. Michael W. Matusak as Celebrant.
Interment will be in Transfiguration Cemetery.
A Parish Wake Service will be held at 3 p.m. and the Transfiguration Rosary Society will conduct a Rosary Service at 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.
