Police find drugs, guns on W.Va. man
Uniontown police have charged a Bruceton Mills, W.Va., man with a variety of charges after police found him with drugs and a gun in Pershing Court last month. Police said John Henry Miller Jr. was charged before Magisterial District Judge Dwight K. Shaner with carrying a firearm without a license, illegal possession of a firearm, possession of drugs, possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property.
Sgt. Jonathan Grabiak said police found Miller under the influence of alcohol and drugs in the parking lot of the Pershing Court housing complex March 17.
Grabiak said police noticed Miller’s vehicle covered in mud and Miller walking toward it around 6:30 p.m. Grabiak asked Miller to walk to the patrol car he was seated in, and as he approached, Grabiak noticed a handgun in the front pocket of Miller’s pants. Grabiak said he immediately secured Miller and radioed for backup.
He said during a search of Miller, officers found two bags of marijuana, suspected cocaine, a chrome .380-caliber handgun that had been reported stolen from the Uniontown area in 2005, seven rounds of ammunition, plastic bags and a digital scale.
Grabiak said police found more ammunition and opened and unopened cans of beer in Miller’s vehicle.
Miller was placed in Fayette County Prison on $25,000 straight cash bond.
Grabiak said Miller has an extensive criminal record, including multiple felony charges, and added that police contacted Miller’s parole officer in West Virginia regarding his arrest.
A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date in Uniontown.
