He was born February 3, 1922, in Star Junction, Pa., the son of the late Elmer and Carrie Belle March Keffer, Sr.
Charles was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7023, Perryopolis, Pa. Charles retired after 27 years of service with the United States Steel Irvin Works.
Charles is survived by his wife, Anna Lyons Keffer; the following children: Charles Keffer and wife, Patricia of Smock, Dennis Keffer and Karen Keffer both of Star Junction. He was the proud grandfather of seven: Tessa, Denise, Dennis, Jr. and wife, Jentri, Amanda, Barbara, John, David and wife, Jaimee; five great-grandchildren: Dustin, Julia, Jacob, Ryan and Rayna. He is also survived by two sisters: Irene McClendon of Syracuse, New York, and Beatrice Durka and husband, Louis of Donora; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Keffer, Jr., and Raymond Keffer and one sister, Ina Fischer.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday until 11 a.m., the hour of service. The Rev. Donald Bowser officiating.
Interment will be in Bowman-Flatwoods Cemetery, RD 1, Vanderbilt, Pa. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the VFW Gold Star Post 7023 and the American Legion 752, Perryopolis.
