Madlyn M. Arthurs, 78, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, in Mon Valley Hospital.
She was born November… Madlyn M. Arthurs, 78, of Pittsburgh, Pa., died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, in Mon Valley Hospital.
She was born November 7, 1929, in Charleroi, Pa., daughter of the late Michele GA and Mary Celaschi Martucci.
She was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish of Charleroi, the Women’s International Club of the University of Pittsburgh and the Western Pa. Genealogy Society.
Madlyn was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography. She began her career as Assistant Dean of Women at Pittsburgh.
She married Robert C. Arthurs after they met in college. She and her husband lived in Charleroi all of their married life. She was active in various business ventures by herself and with her husband and enjoyed a very active life centered around her family, friends and business associates.
She enjoyed traveling and was an avid student throughout her life.
She touched the hearts and minds of many people with her gracious manner that will be remembered and greatly missed.
She is survived by one son, Robert C. Arthurs, II of Charleroi; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Warren Baker of Toronto, Canada. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Claire Lynn, Chloe Lynn and Robert C. Arthurs, III; and a niece and nephew, Michael and Susanna Baker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Arthurs on August 18, 1998.
Friends will be received in the CARL J. SPALLINO FUNERAL HOME, 819 Fallowfield Avenue, Charleroi, Pa., today and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at Noon, in Mary, Mother of the Church, with the Rev. David F. Dzermejko, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in West Newton Cemetery.
