Charges dismissed

By The 1 min read

Citing a federal indictment on the same charges, Fayette County District Attorney Nancy D. Vernon dismissed a case against a Uniontown man facing charges in county court. In February, a federal grand jury indicted Tyree L. Truley, 30. The indictment alleged that he had more than 2.2 pounds of cocaine in his possession when he was arrested on April 30, 2007.

Truley was arrested after a state police trooper on patrol on Connellsville Street in Uniontown pulled over a vehicle in which he was a passenger because the vehicle had illegally tinted windows.

The trooper also found that Truley had a handgun on him, and federal authorities charged that he had it with him in relation to drug trafficking.

Because the federal charges mirror the county-filed charges, Vernon asked Judge Gerald R. Solomon to grant a dismissal. Defense attorney Jason Taylor agreed to the dismissal.
