GERALD A. “JERRY” SPELLMAN
UNIONTOWN Gerald A. “Jerry” Spellman Gerald A. Spellman, 78, of Uniontown, Pa., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 4, 2008, in Hillside Manor, Uniontown, Pa. He was born August 18, 1929, in Masontown, Pa. the son of the late Gerald W. and Helen Allison Spellman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, William Spellman. Jerry graduated from Uniontown High School with the Class of 1947, and from West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member and Past Master of Laurel Lodge 651 F. & A. M., Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, Pittsburgh Consistory, a member and twice past Commander Knights Templar, Tall Cedars, Elk BPO 380, the General George C Marshall AMVETS Post 103, and Uniontown VFW Post 47. He was also a member of the Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. Jerry is survived by his wife, Lois Jennings Spellman; two sons: Gerald C. Spellman and wife, Holly of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Robert J. Spellman and wife, Lee Ann of Hopwood, Pa.; a daughter, Jean Whitlatch and husband, David of Hopwood, Pa. and seven grandchildren: Andrew Sampey, Melissa Sampey, Lauren Spellman, R.J. Spellman, Jared Spellman, Devin Spellman and Brionie Spellman. Arrangements are entrusted to the ANDREW D. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pa. where the family will receive friends on Sunday, April 6, 2008 from noon until 2 and 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 71 North Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown, Pa. on Monday, April 7, 2008 from 10 until 11 a.m. followed by a celebration of his life at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Paul N. Frank, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Christ’s Lutheran Cemetery, Chalk Hill, Pa. Laurel Lodge 651 F. & A. M. will hold Masonic service on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Uniontown VFW Post 47 will accord military rites at the cemetery.
