County man, woman jailed on drug-related charges
Members of the Fayette County Drug Task Force removed drugs and guns from a Uniontown apartment after executing a search warrant there Saturday morning.
Task force Detective Charles David said about 84 grams of marijuana and 2.1 grams of cocaine were confiscated. David said five guns were also found in the home. Police said Myra L. Jordan, 30, of Masontown and Clinton C. Cohen, 31, of Uniontown face several drug-related charges as a result of the drug bust.
According to a criminal complaint filed by David, Jordan and Cohen were sleeping in a bedroom when task force members entered the 16 A Wilson Ave. apartment early Saturday.
Another man, Charles Buchannan III, was found sleeping in the living room, police said.
Police said all three people were read their rights and placed in custody while task force members searched the home. Buchannan was not charged, police said.
David said money, a silver grinder used for marijuana and a cigar blunt were found on a nightstand in the bedroom Jordan and Cohen were sleeping in.
Two handguns, both loaded and one cocked, were found under the bed mattress, David said, noting that another handgun was found in a dresser drawer. A marijuana bong and a silver scale were found on top of the dresser, according to authorities.
David said a purse was also found on the dresser and that a bag containing cocaine was found in the purse.
Police said Jordan allegedly told a member of the task force that the cocaine was hers.
The complaint indicated that task force members found money and a gun in a locked safe in a second bedroom. Another handgun was found on a shelf in the room, according to the complaint.
In the kitchen, a large bag of marijuana was allegedly found in the oven. David alleged several other bags used to store and package marijuana were also found in the kitchen, as were several scales.
Police said four unidentified pills were also found in the living room.
David said the search warrant was executed smoothly and that all of the suspects were compliant with police. About $3,500 in cash, including several jars of change, were removed from the apartment, David said.
Jordan and Cohen face several drug-related charges, including felonies, and were arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty Sr.
Both were placed in Fayette County Prison after failing to post bond, according to authorities.
In addition to David, task force members Donald Gmitter, Tom O’Barto, Ronald Haggerty Jr., Josh Mrosko, David Hromada and police K-9 Annie, handled by Hromada, assisted with Saturday’s raid.
