Harold W. “Wib” Brant, 87, of Amend, Uniontown, Pa., passed away at home with his loving family by his side… Harold W. “Wib” Brant, 87, of Amend, Uniontown, Pa., passed away at home with his loving family by his side on April 15, 2008.
He was born November 25, 1920 in Markleysburg, Pa., son of the late Asa Brant and Dolly Clark Brant.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Mary Cathrine McCann Brant, brother, Charles “Herb” Brant and sister, Dorothy Karwatsky.
He was a retired coal miner with 45 years at United States Steel Robena Mine, member of UMWA Robena Local No. 6321, was a Deputy Game Warden for 35 years and a lifetime member of the Amend Gun Club.
Surviving are his children: Irma Friend and husband, John, Amend, Pa., Dolly Daniels and husband, Larry, Continental No. 3, Pa., Joyce Hersh and husband, Dennis, Amend, Pa., and Terry Brant at home with his father; nine grandchildren: Krista Baker and husband, Chris, April Riba and husband, Mike, Jeff Gibson and wife, Kim all of Uniontown, Pa., Ashley Chesslo and husband, Chris of Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, Adam Brant, Amanda Brant, Larry Daniels, Jr., Roy Daniels and Ricky Daniels all of Uniontown, Pa.; eight great-grandchildren; sisters: Pauline Norton of Jeannette, Pa., Betty Delaney of New Castle, Pa., Mildred Basarab of Perryopolis, Pa., and Donna Swaney and husband, Paul of Uniontown, Pa.; several nieces and nephews and former daughter-in-law, Kathy Brant, who helped care for him during his illness.
The family will receive friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m. Private Family services will be held on Friday, April 18, 2008, with the Rev. Paul Lesher officiating with interment following in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Georges Township, Pa.
