Frank Edward Karlowicz Sr., age 80, of Little Cleveland in Adah, Pa., died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in Jefferson Regional… Frank Edward Karlowicz Sr., age 80, of Little Cleveland in Adah, Pa., died Saturday, April 19, 2008, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Pa., with his loving family at his side.
He was born on August 21, 1927, in Filbert, Fayette County, Pa., the son of Frank Edward Karlowicz and Mary (Zarycka) Karlowicz.
Frank attended Redstone High School and served two years in the United States Army at Fort Lewis, Washington, and received an Honorable Discharge as a Technician Fifth Grade.
Frank retired from the Consolidated Coal Company in 1985 after 38 years on the Robena Slope.
He was a member of Saint Mary Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church in Leckrone, Pa., the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood, Pa., Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 in Uniontown, Pa., American Legion Post 423 in Masontown, Pa., and the Edenborn Fire Hall.
Frank was a most loving husband, father, grandfather.
Besides spending time with his family, he enjoyed playing the lottery and working in his yard.
He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and also Pittsburgh Penguins fan.
His favorite Bible verse was the Twenty-Third Psalm.
Frank was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Helen Louise (Yuric) Karlowicz, whom he married March 31, 1951, an infant son, Paul Steven Lutrario, infant grandson, Nicholas John Crable, an infant sister, Josephine Karlowicz, three brothers, Robert Karlowicz, Thomas Karlowicz and Edward Kindervater, and nephew, Robert Kindervater.
Left to cherish Frank’s memory are his beloved wife, Irene (Snyder) Karlowicz, whom he married September 16, 1972; loving children: Darlene Azzardi and her husband, Joseph, of Uniontown, Pa., Frank Karlowicz Jr. and his wife, Toni, of Carmichaels, Pa., Tammy Crable and her husband, Jerry, of Adah, Pa., Colleen Bauer and her husband, Charles, of Masontown, Pa. Linda Capitoni and her husband, Geno, of Carmichaels, Pa., Michele Barill and her husband, Jimmy, of Morgantown, West Virginia, Michael Karlowicz and his wife, Charity, of Adah, Pa.
Frank was the proud and loving grandfather of Franco Karlowicz and his wife, Jackelyn, Anthony Karlowicz, Jerry Crable and his wife, Lindsay, Jessica Crable, Joshua Crable, Jaclyn Bauer, Charles Bauer, Gina Capitoni Beal and her husband, Justin, Jennifer Capitoni, Dominic Capitoni, Claudia Barill, Courtney McKenzie, Chad McKenzie; a special sister, Rose Richardson of New Salem, Pa.; a loving brother, John Karlowicz of Ann Arbor, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Charlene Karlowicz; the last surviving aunt, Lena Yankulic and her husband, George; also numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful pet, “Gypsy”.
The family will receive friends in the JOHN S. MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and River avenues, Masontown, Pa., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, April 23, 2008, until 10:30 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in Saint Mary Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, Leckrone, Pa., with the Rev. Father Donald P. Trexler as the Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone, where Military Rites and Honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 and American Legion Post 423 both of Masontown, Pennsylvania.

Parish Wake Service will be held on Tuesday.
