Suspect located at traffic checkpoint
A man wanted on felony charges was arrested at a traffic checkpoint operated by police in Brownsville Friday night. Jody L. Ford, 33, of Brownsville was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and driving with a suspended/revoked license, according to police.
Brownsville police said Ford was arrested when he was stopped during a traffic safety checkpoint at the intersection of Market Street and Brownsville Avenue in the borough.
Ford was arraigned on the charges before Magisterial District Judge Wendy Dennis and placed in Fayette County Prison after failing to post bond, according to police.
Ford’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
Police said 74 vehicles were stopped at Friday’s checkpoint, noting that 23 drivers were given verbal warnings to carry their driver’s license.
In addition, police said charges will be filed against a 37-year-old man from Newell for driving a vehicle with a suspended license and failure to properly register and insure a vehicle.
