Speaker named for convention
The Fayette County Sunday School Association will hold the 112th annual county convention at the New Life Covenant Church on Route 40 in Markleysburg, located next to A.J. McMullen School, on May 2 and 3. The theme is “Be Strong in the Lord and in His Mighty Power.’
Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 2. The evening session will feature special music by the bell choir of Third Presbyterian Church of Uniontown. Keynote speaker will be the Rev. Chris Enoch, pastor of Third Presbyterian.
Originally from the state of Washington, Enoch worked 22 years in Southern California as an electrician before going into the ministry. After serving a church in Riverside, Calif., he moved to Uniontown in 2006. He has been married to his wife, Susie, for almost 26 years and has two sons, Bryn, 21, and Drew, 19.
Registration will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 3, and dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. To register for dinner, call Joy Franks at 724-569-5387. James Marker of Uniontown Free Methodist Church will provide music for the dinner. Enoch will bring the convention message at the 7 p.m. session and Penny Whoolery of Fairchance will provide special music.
Winners from the poster, essay and poetry contest will also be presented at the Saturday evening service.
