Blood drive The Masontown Brethren Church, in conjunction with the Central Blood Bank, is holding a blood drive to replenish blood in honor of Nancy Wilson of Masontown.
It will be held in the church social hall, 112 W. Church Ave., from noon to 6 p.m. on May 9. Please use the rear entrance to the hall.

Health Fair
The Albert Gallatin Area School District will sponsor a health fair from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Albert Gallatin North Middle School in McClellandtown and is open to the public.
Fantastic door prizes will be awarded every 15 minutes throughout the evening and will include bicycles, gift baskets and other surprises.
Vendors representing many local health and district organizations will be participating and offering free samples, information and activities for the entire family.
Gymnasium activities such as dance, dance revolution, bowling, hula-hoops, foul shooting and beanbag toss will be available for students.
Parents are asked to attend with children and enjoy fun for the whole family.

Kindergarten Round Up
Mount Moriah Christian School will hold a Kindergarten Round Up on May 6. Kindergarten is a three-day a week program for the first nine weeks and five days a week thereafter.

Preschool registration
Mount Moriah Christian School is accepting preschool registrations for the 2008-2009 school year. Enrolling children should be 3 years old before Sept. 1.
A pre-kindergarten class is available for children 4 and 5 years of age.

CROP Walk
Sponsors and walkers are needed for the ninth annual German-Masontown CROP Hunger Walk that will be held May 18.

Student registration
Mount Moriah Christian School is open for registration for all students kindergarten through fifth grade.
“We are a small Christian school with all certified teachers,’ a spokesman said. “We offer a strong academic curriculum as well as extras such as field trips, gym, music, art, and science lab.”

4th of July
Applications for booths are now being taken for the Masontown 4th of July celebration at the German Masontown Park.
When applying, a list what is being sold at your booth must be provided. Booth fee is $60.

Community Kitchen
The next Masontown Community Kitchen meal will be held between 4 and 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
The weather has been summer-like so the staff has planned a menu of hot dogs, baked beans, macaroni salad, Panera breads and desserts.
The previous Kitchen on April 15 served more than 200 meals of the Chefs’ Poor Boy Pigs in a Blanket. The local soup kitchen is open every other Tuesday and is held in the First Presbyterian Church at 102 W. Church Ave., Masontown.
The kitchen is staffed through the generosity of the area’s different denomination church members who give willingly of their time and efforts to the Community Kitchen.
A common gathering site where folks meet and see friends and neighbors visiting with one another has become the great success story of the bi-monthly event.
The staff reminds you to invite someone to attend who you may know is in need of a meal and the social and spiritual fellowship and hospitality found there.
The Community Kitchen meals are free to anyone in need but freewill donations are accepted.
