City police seek information on robbery, assault of couple
Uniontown police are investigating an assault on a Uniontown couple by a large group of teens Wednesday evening. Sgt. Jonathan Grabiak said police responded to Walnut Street around 7:38 p.m. for a report of an assault and robbery by a group of about 10 teenagers.
When police arrived, Grabiak said officers found Charles and Megan Swift suffering multiple injuries.
Grabiak said the couple reported that they were in the alley between Walnut and Lenox streets when they were jumped by as many as a dozen teenagers – some walking and others on bicycles.
During the scuffle, the teens beat the couple and got them on the ground, where they were able to wrest a tan bag containing Megan Swift’s purse and medication from her.
Grabiak said when police arrived, Megan Swift was bleeding from her left arm and had cuts and abrasions on her legs and knees. Charles Swift was bleeding from the nose and had cuts and abrasions on the rest of his body, Grabiak said.
He said police canvassed the area with the Swifts and saw several teenagers that fit the general description provided by the couple but added that they were not sure if they were the suspects.
Megan Swift’s bag and medication were later recovered behind a home on Walnut Street, however her purse is still missing, Grabiak said.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police at 724-430-2929.
