Connellsville man charged with attacking brother with sword
A Connellsville man is in Fayette County Prison after he allegedly attacked his brother with a Samurai sword Thursday afternoon in Bullskin Township. State police said Brandon Scott Walker, 20, was charged before Magisterial District Judge Jesse Cramer with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment following the incident.
According to Trooper Nicholas Petrosky, the fight occurred at 2:49 p.m. when Walker used a Samurai sword to attack his brother, Lester John Walker III, 19, also of Connellsville, at a residence on Bellview Road.
Petrosky said the assault occurred after Lester Walker was arguing with his girlfriend. Petrosky said that during their argument, the brothers’ grandfather got involved. He said that Lester Walker then began to argue with his grandfather.
At that point, Petrosky said Brandon Walker retrieved the sword from a room in the home and struck Lester Walker in the back of the head with the sword, which was still sheathed at the time. A scuffle ensued, during which the sheath was removed and Brandon Walker struck Lester Walker multiple times with the blade of the weapon, causing multiple lacerations to his left shoulder and arm, Petrosky said.
Petrosky said Lester Walker’s injuries were not severe.
Brandon Walker was jailed on $7,500 straight cash bond.
A preliminary hearing will be held at a later date before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty Sr.
