Beth-Center scholarships announced

The Bethlehem-Center Community Education Foundation has announced its 2008 annual scholarship awards. “We are very proud of our students and involvement in the program,” said John W. Sloan, executive director of the foundation. “This year’s recipients are excellent examples of the quality education offered to individuals at Bethlehem-Center.”

Local scholarship recipients and name of the awards each student received are as follows:

– Brianna Blaze of Brownsville is the recipient of the Antonio Family Education Scholarship, the John and Barbara Beyer and Family Scholarship, and the Eleanor Greenlee Memorial Scholarship. She will be attending California University of Pennsylvania.

– Holly Brown of Brownsville is the recipient of the Louis Furman Memorial Scholarship, the Singadine and Jess Muchant Memorial Scholarship and the Plachta Family Scholarship and will be attending California University of Pennsylvania.

– Kenneth Coffman of Fredericktown is the recipient of the Giles Scholarship and will be attending Slippery Rock University.

– Jennifer Costanza of Denbo is the recipient of the Ronald and Verla White Scholarship and will be attending California University of Pennsylvania.

– Cecilia Cowger of Fredericktown is the recipient of the Centerville Borough Historical Preservation Scholarship and will be attending Waynesburg University.

– Jolene Diethorn of Brownsville is the recipient of the Philip and Helen Parkinson Scholarship and will be attending the University of Pittsburgh.

– Michael Flory of Millsboro is the recipient of the Charles F. Sperozza Memorial Scholarship and will be attending the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.

– RaeLynn Forsythe of Brownsville, valedictorian of the Bethlehem-Center High School 2008 graduating class, is a recipient of the Bethlehem-Center Staff Scholarship, the Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh Chairman’s Scholarship and the Goozdich Scholarship. She will be attending Washington & Jefferson College.

– Andrew Herman of Fredericktown is the recipient of the Binnstown-Lowhill Lions Club Scholarship and will be attending Triangle Tech.

– Megan Higinbotham of Brownsville is the recipient of the Beallsville-Centerville-Richeyville Lions Club Scholarship and will be attending Penn Commercial.

– Dominic Malloy of Marianna is the recipient of the Wade and Shani Smith Scholarship and the Elizabeth A. Sloan Memorial Scholarship and will be attending the University of Pittsburgh.

– Christina Nemal of Millsboro is the recipient of the Stacy Lynn Sabocheck Memorial Scholarship and the Bethlehem-Center Community Education Foundation Student Scholarship and will be attending the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.

– Samantha Nemal of Millsboro is the recipient of the Fredericktown Civic Club Scholarship and the Fredericktown Butcher Shop Scholarship. She will be attending Clarion University.

– Ashley O’Neil of Brownsville is the recipient of the John Bodnar Memorial Scholarship and will be attending Penn Commercial.

– Joshua Sabatini of Richeyville is the recipient of The Mary D. Trout Memorial Scholarship and will be attending Waynesburg University.

– Christopher Stay of Fredericktown is the recipient of the Bethlehem-Center Kick-Off Club Scholarship and the Bethlehem-Center Wrestling Booster Barry Miller Memorial Scholarship and will be attending Washington & Jefferson College.

– Sandra Strauss of Marianna is the recipient of the Sofran Scholarship and the Binnstown-Lowhill Lions Club Scholarship. She will be attending the Community College of Allegheny.

– Michael Whitfield of Scenery Hill is the recipient of the Bethlehem-Center Community Education Foundation Student Scholarship and will be attending Penn State University in Altoona.
