Equipment unveiled Ribbon-cutting planned
The Albert Gallatin Area School District will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new A. L. Wilson Elementary School at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Administration, school staff, and school board members will be present along with Jeanine Vanucci of Kasun Architects Inc., and Rosemary Jendral (widow of Michael Molnar, architect) to celebrate the opening of the new school.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, community members are invited to tour the building.
Hearing pending
A hearing is pending against a Smithfield man for alleged property maintenance and zoning violations at a vacant house he owns in Uniontown.
Uniontown code enforcement officer and fire chief Myron Nypaver filed the citations against Louis Peary of 361 Willow Grove Road for alleged violations observed at 320 Elizabeth St. on June 12.
One citation charges Peary with violating the city’s zoning code because the home’s exterior walls and roof were deteriorated and there were signs of significant rotting and decay.
The other citation is for an accumulation of garbage outside the home.
Residents of Elizabeth Street and the surrounding area presented Uniontown City Council with a petition asking for the house to be demolished.
