Technology seminars scheduled at college
LATROBE – St. Vincent College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will host a series of workshops focusing on technology. The workshops are designed for individuals and businesses that are looking for ways to improve their Web site, their search engine listings and computer security issues. All workshops will be held at the college from 9 a.m. to noon, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. “Planning and Promoting Your Web Site’ will be held on Tuesday. The workshop will explain how to set up a Web site and improve an existing one.
“Search Engine Optimization’ will be held Sept. 16. This workshop will provide an in-depth look at search engines, and how to utilize them to improve traffic to a Web site.
“Computer Security Issues’ will be held Oct. 30. Topics will include firewalls, Internet usage and how it impacts threats to a computer and Web site, incorporating an Internet usage policy in a business and more.

Joe Polk, senior technical specialist with the Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP), will present the series. A program of Penn State, PennTAP helps Pennsylvania companies improve competitiveness by providing a limited amount of free technology assistance and information to help resolve specific technical questions or needs. The program focuses on helping smaller firms that normally do not have the in-house expertise or resources to resolve specific technology questions.
