Wharton supervisors purchase trailer
FARMINGTON – Wharton Township supervisors on Monday approved the purchase of a tilt-bed trailer for $6,396, which was the lowest of three bids. The trailer has a 10,000-pound capacity and would be used to haul the township’s roller or materials.
Cleveland Brothers Equipment of Murrysville submitted the low bid. The other bids were $6,480 and $6,578.
In another purchase, the supervisors agreed to buy a supply of piping for $5.32 per foot from Walsh Equipment Co. of Prospect. The total amount of the purchase was $5,395.
The other bids were $6.12 per foot and $9,53 per foot.
Supervisors said they would look into buying some additional piping after Supervisor Jack Lewis said a vendor told him prices will increase next year.
Turning to another subject, supervisors agreed to apply to the state for a dirt and gravel road grant.
Supervisor Joe Henning said Fayette County will receive a $27,000 allocation and the township has received money from the program in the past.
Jim Means, chairman of the board of supervisors, said the grants are for roads impacted by water drainage.

Thanked the Great Meadows Garden Club for tending to flowers at the municipal building and the township park.
Announced that the next meeting will be held Sept. 3 due to the Labor Day holiday.
