Pilot hurt when ultralight glider falls

ROSTRAVER TWP. – A Belle Vernon man suffered serious injuries Wednesday morning when the glider he was piloting crashed on Willow Brook Golf Course in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County. Officials said Jay Tokar, 46, was flying the glider above the golf course around 7:30 a.m. when it caught on a cable of a ski lift and crashed on the fourth hole.

Tokar was taken by medical helicopter from the scene to a hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.

Information about his condition was not available Wednesday afternoon.

Volunteer firefighters from Rostraver joined Rostraver police and Rostraver-West Newton Emergency Services personnel at the crash.

No further information was available as of press time.
