New superintendent at helm in California
CALIFORNIA – A new superintendent is at the helm this year in the California Area School District. Linda Mancini, who had served as the assistant superintendent, was promoted to superintendent following the retirement of Dr. Tim Marks.
“I’m sure everyone can see how enthusiastic I am about this school year,” Mancini said at a recent school board meeting.
Students will also find the high school classrooms and middle school gymnasium a bit more comfortable this year, with the addition of air conditioning. Mancini said the air conditioning is working well in the gym and all of the high school homerooms will have individual climate controls as of the first day of school. Mancini said workers will be completing the installation of air conditioning units to auxiliary classrooms such as the computer laboratory during the opening weeks of the school year.
While there will be no immediate changes in the location of the administration offices or the use of Booster Field for youth football and soccer games, an unnamed entity does have an option to buy the old Phillipsburg School where the offices are located and the adjoining athletic field. No action is expected on the possible sale before the end of the year.
