      FRONTIER FESTIVAL – The 26th annual Mason-Dixon Frontier Festival will be held Aug. 23 and 24, from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. both days. No admission charge, free door prizes donated by vendors. There will be a church service, live music, crafters, food vendors, chain saw carvers, civil war reenactments, antique engine and car displays, trapping displays, free pony rides and much more. The event will be held at the Mason-Dixon Park. Free camping during the weekend of festival.       GOLF SCRAMBLE – A four-person golf scramble sponsored by Social Service League will be held Aug. 23 at Rohanna’s Golf Course with a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. There is an entry fee per person or team, which includes green fees, cart fees, donuts and coffee, and homemade lunch. Many skill prizes, hole in one prizes sponsored by First Federal, and raffle prizes will be awarded. Proceeds from the 16th outing benefits the under privileged children of Central Greene School District. Entries should be received by Aug. 17 at the golf course or by calling 724-627-8822 or 724-627-7477.

      BENEFIT EVENT – The Mt. Morris United Methodist Church will host a benefit event for the Missions of the United Methodist Women on Saturday, Aug. 23. The event will feature a quilt show at 3 p.m., a performance by the Greene Academy Dulcimers at 4 p.m. and dinner (ham barbeque, a variety of salads and desserts, and beverages for $5) at 5 p.m.

      LIVE MUSIC – The local band “Southern Discomfort” will play at the Masontown VFW on Friday, Aug. 29, from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The event is open to the public, and there is an admission charge.

      BOOK SALE – The Friends of the Flenniken Library will hold their annual book sale through Aug. 30 during regular library hours in the Blue Room. Sale items will not be priced, but will be available for a monetary donation, with proceeds to benefit library programming.

      FREE PARTY – The Journey, a new non-denominational church in Nemacolin, is sponsoring a free “Party in the Park” at Nemacolin Park on Saturday, Aug. 30 from 3 to 7 p.m. The event will feature live music by “Intent” and entertainment by “Giggles the Clown” and Illusionist “Faron.” Everyone is welcome to attend.       JACOBS REUNION – The Jacobs family reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 31, at Harvey’s Grange. A covered dish dinner will be served at 12 p.m. Family members are encouraged to bring an item for the white elephant sale.

      NATIONAL GUARD REUNION – On Saturday, Sept. 6, there will be a reunion of former unit members of Pa. Army National Guard Companies A, B, C, K and 724th MP Co. at the Robert C. Wiley/Waynesburg Amory. All former soldiers serving in these units are encouraged to attend. Anyone knowing former unit members, please notify them of the reunion.
