Evan Patrick Danko, 28, of The Poconos and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Saturday,… Evan Patrick Danko, 28, of The Poconos and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 23, 2008.
He was born March 7, 1980, in Mount Pleasant, Pa., the son of John and Cheryl Danko of Deer Lake, Pa.
Evan graduated in 1998 from Uniontown High School.
He attended Westmoreland Community College where he graduated with Honors and earned an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts.
Evan’s love of the culinary arts profession took him to many renowned places where he was known as a creative and talented chef.
He most recently worked at Red’s Steakhouse at Mount Airy Casino and Resort at The Poconos where he was the Executive Sous Chef.
He was also employed at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando, Florida, as Chef De Parte, at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, and at The Lodge at Woodlock in Hawley, Pennsylvania, as the Executive Sous Chef.
Evan began his career locally where he prepared breakfast for then First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort and Spa and was also employed at The Historic Stone House Restaurant in Farmington, Pennsylvania.
Recently, Evan was chosen for a position by Michele Richards at The Citronelle Restaurant, Washington, D.C.
Evan also gained much pleasure by preparing meals for his family on many special occasions!
Although his career in the culinary field was important, Evan was most proud of his son, Aarean, with whom he enjoyed spending time. Together they would play game cube, skateboard, roller blade and play hide-and-seek for hours.
Evan was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Andrew and Margaret (Lupco) Danko, and maternal grandparents, Thomas and Alverta (Figart) Lozaw.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, John and Cheryl (Lozaw) Danko; his beloved son, Aarean Fitzgerald of Uniontown, Pa.; his fiancee, Elyssa Charkiris of The Poconos; his sister, Heather Rose and husband Jerrod of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and brother, Troy Danko and wife Ashley and niece Jordan of Leland, North Carolina. He is also survived by these aunts and uncles; Elizabeth Danko of Hopwood, Pa., Regina and Joseph Hackney of Messmore, Pa., Patricia and Bobby Potts of Cocoa, Florida, Donna Baumgartner of Newport, Pa., Timothy and Donna Lozaw of Cocoa, Florida; and several loving cousins, friends and co-workers.
Friends will be received in the THOMAS M. DOLFI FUNERAL HOME, 136 North Gallatin Avenue, Union-town, Pa., today Tuesday, August 26, 2008, from 4 to 6 p.m. where Services will begin at 6 p.m. with Reverend Richard Calloway officiating.
