Uniontown teen beaten, robbed by pair of men
A Uniontown teenager was beaten and robbed by two men while he and a friend were walking on Wilson Avenue at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday. Police Officer David J. Rutter said the boys, both 15 years old, were walking home from the Uniontown Area Senior High School when two men approached them and one of the men “took a swing” at one of the boys.
Rutter said the teen was able to duck away from the attempted blow and both boys then started to run but one of them tripped and fell.
One of the suspects then kicked the boy who had fallen in the head and grabbed his gym bag and fled east along the railroad tracks, Rutter said.
Uniontown Area School District police searched the area and found the bag. Rutter said $20 and a cellular telephone were missing from the satchel.
Rutter said when officers responded to the incident they found the boys near the train tracks along Wilson Avenue and that the one teen had a visible shoe print on his forehead.
The boys described the suspect who kicked the teen as a white man in his late teens or early 20s, with a thin build and a light goatee. The second suspect was described as a tall black man in his late teens or early 20s with a thin build and short hair.
Rutter said city police Detective Donald M. Gmitter also is investigating the case.
