She was born September 21, 1941, in Republic, Pa., the daughter of Mildred Phillips Lach of Republic, and the late Anthony Lach.
Barbara was a graduate of the former Redstone High School. She was active on the reunion committee and was looking forward to her upcoming 50th year reunion. She was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church and a dedicated member of the church choir. She was a member of the Church Social Club and the Amvets Auxiliary.
Barbara was a dedicated friend and employee of her dearest and loyal friend, District Attorney Nancy Vernon, working in Mrs. Vernon’s law office and more recently in the District Attorney’s office. She was known to greet everyone with her special smile. Those who knew her and loved her say that she was a joy to talk to. She made herself the kind of person that always worried about everyone else, not about herself. “How can I help you?” was her way of life. She was a devoted mother, daughter, grandmother, loyal sister and friend.
Barbara is survived by her loving mother, Mildred; her loving children: son, Frank R. Bendik and wife Lori of State College, Pa., daughter, Krista L. Bendik of Uniontown; her grandchildren whom she cherished: Robert E. Bendik, Camryn E. Bendik and Brady E. Bendik; her loving sisters: Johanna Lach Carter and husband Larry of Ocala, Florida, and Frances Lach Ferek and husband Larry of New Salem, Pa. She also is survived by nieces and nephews: Deborah Marciniak, Deidra Danmeyer, Kelli Sisler, Tony Ferek and John “J.J.” Ferek; her grandpets: Bunker and Otis; other relatives and many devoted friends and neighbors.
Friends will be received in the KEZMARSKY FUNERAL HOME, 71 Pennsylvania Avenue, Uniontown, Pa., today, Friday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, August 30, 2008, until 9 a.m. when a Blessing Service will be held followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Alexander L. Pleban as Celebrant.
Interment follows in Mt. Macrina Cemetery.
Saint Joseph Parish Family Vigil Service by the Ministry of Consolation will be held today, Friday, at 3:15 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
