Mariner named president of First Federal
At the regular meeting of the Board of Directors of First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Greene County, held on July 28, John E. Mariner of Waynesburg was named President.
Mariner succeeds Scott S. O’Neil, who retired on July 31.
Mariner began his employment at First Federal on July 12, 1971. He has served as mortgage loan officer, assistant secretary-treasurer, treasurer, vice-president-treasurer, and executive vice-president-CEO. Mariner is the son of the late Glise E. Mariner and the late Betty T. Mariner. He lives in Waynesburg with his wife Linda. He is the father of Timothy and wife Tessa of Colt’s Neck, New Jersey, David and wife Julie of Waynesburg, and daughter Kari at home. He and Linda are also the grandparents of five grandchildren.
He is a 1964 graduate of Waynesburg High School, and received his bachelor’s degree from Fairmont State College. He is a 1979 graduate of the School for Executive Development through the University of Georgia, a 1980 graduate of the Leadership School through the University of Central Florida, the Residential Mortgage Lending school through the Institute of Financial Education, and various continuing education classes.
Mariner has served in various capacities in a number of community organizations, including: Past Master and Trustee of the Masonic Lodge No. 153 F & AM, 32 degree Mason and Syria Shrine; Administrative Council, Washington Street Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church; past chairman of the Franklin Township Recreation Board; director of Greene County Industrial Development; past president and current director of the Waynesburg Lions Club; and many more.
